It is a very durable bike. Have dropped it 3 or 4 times and still looks brand new. Barely any scratches.
Yeah totally, It's a bike that's designed for roads, if you wanna go off-terrain then there a special bikes made for that kind of thing.It seems as though the consensus is pretty unanimous, it's a great bike cruising through the roads in the mountains, but not if you plan on taking it off road, then you should be fine. I don't think that anyone expects this bike to withstand being dropped without damage, but at the end of the day, if you are looking to cruise through the foothills of the Smokys (like I often do) then it's perfect. But if you want to hit the mountain trails that don't consist of asphalt or concrete, then get yourself another bike.
This is not a mountain bike and is more for the highways. Having said that the CTX is very sturdy and durable and if you do off-roading once in a while I don't think it will do any harm.
Be sure to go slow and not try too many stunts!
