California summer gas...

I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside of Sacramento. In my part of the state, we change to summer formula gas (whatever the heck that is) at this time of the year. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that my bike was running a little better and that my gas mileage had increased. I ride almost every (sunny) day and 99% of my riding is in the local twisties. All winter long I've consistently been getting 70-72 mpg. But, my last three tanks have been at 76 mpg or a little better. The nice thing is that the slight lugging feeling in 6th gear with my manual transmission is better at moderate speeds in the high 40's to 50's. Has anyone else out here on the left coast with a CTX experienced this? Edit : (Using 87 Octane gas)
