    Filling with gas in California

I use the GasCard to hold the rubber boot out of the way. I bought the plastic one about 5 years ago and it is still good. It allows me to look into the tank while pumping. I bought this when I had my CTX which wasn't bad to fill up. My BMW RT is a nightmare to fill without the card...

    Filling with gas in California

Try this: I have tried the McCuff, which was a disaster and this which works like a charm: https://www.aerostich.com/gascard.html It is obvious from the California pump sleeves that motorcyclists had no say, or were ignored when these things were developed.

    New steed...

Thanks Woodswoman...I'm a short guy with a 29" inseam, so the first thing I'm learning on the new bike is to stop "en pointe"! So far...so good.

    New steed...

After putting 46K on the CTX in the past 3 years, I'm riding off into the sunset on my new BMW R1200RT. I enjoyed the CTX a lot and my wife and I have our memory banks filled with the good times we had while touring together on it. But, while the Honda did well in the mountains that we ride...

How do men react to seeing you on your bike?

My wife just turned 65 years old. On her birthday, she bicycled to the summit of Passo di Rombo...one of Italy's most difficult and remote. I can't ride with her any longer, but I was the proudest husband on our little blue planet as I took photos of her as she finished the ascent in freezing...

    750-cc CTX?

No interest at all in a 750. While I would like more power from the motorcycle that I ride, a 15% increase just doesn't address the reason for my desire to change. I've seen a few different horsepower figures for the CTX, but Rider magazine put it at 43hp (@ 6100rpm), but let's say it was...

Welcome to the forum. While it could be said that the physical aspects of riding a motorcycle are like riding a bicycle in that "you never forget how", there are other aspects that might not be so sharp after a 10 year layoff. If you haven't thought about it yet, it might be worth taking an...

    Photos Please!

The Sierra Nevada foothill towns of Newcastle, Penryn, Loomis, Rocklin and Roseville are on the Sierra Pacific railroad line as it comes west over the mountains. They prospered once upon a time by packing locally grown fruit for shipment around the United States. The colorful packing labels...

    What are your limits?

Do any of you use evaporative cooling vests? (OK, Glen e rides in Florida at 100 degrees, so everything he wears qualifies) What do you think. Especially those of you who, like Glen ride in high humidity. They work really well here where it's bone dry, but they're kind of a mess to deal...

    What are your limits?

Out here it's difficult to do any distance riding and to worry about an upper limit. I'll explain. This morning I got on the CTX and headed up Hwy. 50 to Lake Tahoe. I left in high 70 degree weather and rode to over 7,000 feet before descending to the lake at 6,225 ft.. It was nice up...

    Photos Please!

My wife's bicycle club had their "summer camp" up in the Sierra this year. I went up for some riding too and found myself up near Mount Lassen yesterday. Lassen is one of the volcanoes that extend around the Pacific Ocean in what is known as the "Ring of Fire".

Any windshield option updates or opinions?

I think the instructions tell you to put the wings on the inside so that the front panel goes on without having to consider the rubber trim. The wings have mounting slots on them instead of holes. That allows one to move them up just enough so that the rubber trim fits. Blair at Madstad...

The kind of day that makes me love my CTX700

Nice story Woodswoman...I can see how useful the CTX with DCT would be as a commute vehicle.

Any windshield option updates or opinions?

The Honda tall windscreen was on my CTX when I purchased it. I've lived with it because it was often tolerable for my riding in our local foothills where speed is usually kept in the 50's. But, put the bike on the highway, and the bobblehead syndrome shows up. (We'll just call that B.S. from...
