Wow what happened to this web site ????

Yes, the season is over. I have been spending time on snow blower sites :) . Got a new 34" beastie. Can't wait to use it. Ponydriver has the right idea. Start now finding out who rides CTX700s in your region and organizing rides and get togethers.

Ctx700 buy Or NOT to buy

The confusion with this rev-limiter thing is that the CTX has half a Honda Fit (auto) engine in it. It is a long stroke engine compared to most other motorcycles out there. Therefore, you won't get the same rev numbers as a traditional bike, but the power is there. Driven in Sport mode, which...

    Trip to Colorado

John C on the other site would through a hissy fit if he read this. :D

    Kick stand

Thickness is relative. Yes, it at times looks like the bike leans too much, but then again, there comes that time that you are touring western Canada, run out of gas, and can't get the kickstand down because of the cross slope of the road. I would like to stick with what the Honda engineers...

    Larger Fuel Tank

Just a side bar to the OP subject and your knee problem. A few years ago, I attended the Cro-Mag rally. I was camping and one morning when I crawled out of my sleeping bag, my back went out on me big time. I couldn't get on the bike (BMW 1150GS). I got some riders to help me on the bike and...

    Larger Fuel Tank

I am with you. Every two hours and somewhere around 180 miles and I need a Red Bull. :) As for the Harley riders, they also get tired because of the shake factor from those Harley engines. :)

K&N filter, exhaust change = performance boost?

IMO, if anything, you would expect to see nothing from a change in oil filter and maybe a decrease in performance with the exhaust change. I am not real familiar with the Coffman exhaust, but in general your performance, or "tune", is a product of the whole engine system from the carbs to the...

    Too Funny

Undeniable evidence that Putin is a malevolent dictator. I feel sorry for the people of Russia who almost had a true democracy, or did for a very short period of time.

Did you take an advanced riders course?

Absolutely agree with you. I talked to a Motorcycle cop last week who took the initial 3 week CT police training program. There is really a lot to learn about riding to be really good at it and a lot of continuing education to reinforce what you learned. In my opinion, even well seasoned...

Advice as to when to change battery...

Exactly, get the juices flowing in the battery and it helps when you crank the starter. I always got the bike going, but when you are camping in late Fall and the temp drops to 28 degrees and it takes 4-5 try's to start the bike it makes you nervous. In warm weather, you can't beat the...

Advice as to when to change battery...

I had a lithium battery on my BMW. It was great until the temps fell to around the thirties. You could feel the battery struggling. I eventually bought a conventional battery for Winter use. At warm temps the Lithium battery was excellent and I shaved of 11 pounds of weight versus the standard...

Got to race a Harley today.

It will work if HD keeps it's hands off the Ducati brand and lets them operate as a separate entity. Not doing that is what killed the Buell brand, IMO. In any event, HD has to do something fast because the average age of the HD rider is quite high.

Advice as to when to change battery...

I have been street riding since 1968. I have never had a battery fail on me on the road with the engine relatively warmed up. Most batteries fail after a long period of non-use at crank up time. They usually give you plenty of warning well before hand that they are dying and that they need to...

With that threat you scared me. I promise to be good from here on out. :)

    It Happened...

The actual cause was rider intention, correct, just as I said in my initial post. Just curious though, in your 40,000 miles last year, or whatever it was, were you ever inattentive while riding? If your answer is no, then most likely, you are not being truthful. If the answer is yes, then...
