It's a tough choice. If I were just getting into riding, I don't know which I'd pick, either.
I started riding on scooters -- a Honda Elite 80 at the beginning, and then I upgunned to a Burgman 400 and later a Burgman 650.
But I realized I would have a far greater selection of machines if I...
You're right, this is required for mounting the Honda or Shad hard bags (or the luggage rack, for that matter). It's an inner support that the naked model does not come with from the factory.
But the original poster was asking for advice about mounting soft bags.
I have seen people purchase adjustable clutch (and brake) levers from 2wheels.com.
It's a known mod to take a brake lever from a CTX1300, which is adjustable, and replace the non-adjustable brake lever on the CTX700. Not certain whether a similar mod can be performed using a CTX1300 clutch...
I quite agree with you, @AlohaRider. If Honda were to update the CTX700 with the 745 motor and the latest-generation DCT, I'd probably throw down for one.
I still have hopes for the future, but at the same time I'm not holding my breath.

What better time to plunk down for a new windshield, kickstand shoe, set of fairing lowers, etc.? (And support a family-owned, USA business.)
G2 Ergonomics makes 3 models that fit the CTX700. Have a look:

Wishing a happy first day of Spring to my fellow CTX700 riders!
It's amply warm enough here in the Catskills today to ride, but it's also raining. My dirt driveway is a mud bog. So I won't be taking "Flicker" out for an inaugural run just yet.
Like many people, I am rather confined to my home...
Welcome, Clear! Where ya from?
While I've never been a sport bike rider, I have to agree with you that the CTX700 is an underappreciated gem. I've owned many cruisers, from middleweight to heavy bagger, and I've also owned several superscooters. To me, the CTX700 is the best of the lot. I'd...
Your route is familiar! My first-ever motorcycle road trip took me to the coast of Maine (Camden, to be specific), and then right across New Hampshire and Vermont to Burlington, across Lake Champlain on the ferry, into the Adirondacks to Lake Placid, then southward and home. I was on a Burgman...
Hi, Vulcan Mediator! Nice to see you here.
Not too many Canadian members are active here -- actually not too many members are active here, period. A few of us are from the northern US, though.
I envy you your trip to the Maritimes. I've visited New Brunswick, but (sadly) that was in a car...
Well, we've made it now to March. I am consoling myself that in years past I have, once in awhile, been able to get my bike down my 600-foot-long gravel and mud driveway in March to ride it.
The itch is so bad, especially on these sunny days!
Mike feels the same way: He can hardly wait to get...
I'm glad you joined us.
I know that in Germany there are many more options to add to the CTX700N than we have where I live in the United States. For example, it's difficult for us to obtain products from Fehling.
What have you added to your motorcycle so far? What do you plan to add or change?
Miamoto, I don't know from personal experience, but the FIAMM web site claims that the model 72112 produces 133 decibels at a distance of 4 inches / 10.16 centimeters.
Do you know at what distance from the horn your police measure the horn's volume?
